On SUNDAY 7 MAY, Mount Hawthorn will transform its streets and lanes into a vibrant street festival for all ages from 11am to 8pm. The third annual community celebration presented by the area’s dynamic local trading collective, The Mount Hawthorn Hub; this free event makes a refreshed return in 2017 as the MOUNT HAWTHORN STREETS AND LANES FESTIVAL.

In 2016 over 55,000 people visited the boutique street soirée which was hailed by many as the perfect family day out, with similar crowd numbers expected on Sunday 7 May.

Thanks to major sponsor the City of Vincent, the festival will take place along Scarborough Beach Road between the Oxford Street intersection (at Axford Park) up to Coogee Street, and throughout surrounding side streets including Flinders, Fairfield and Hobart Streets, and incorporating Hawaiian’s Mezz.

Pop-up attractions and alfresco offerings from local traders and venues will spill into the surrounding alleys and lanes of the neighbourhood.

Event organisers The Mount Hawthorn Hub will release the exciting 2017 program mid-April that will include street food, live music, family fun, market stalls, entertainment stages, street bars, cooking displays, roving performers, community umbrella art and a bigger family fun zone with new attractions and more rides.

Renewable energy will feature throughout this year’s Mount Hawthorn Streets and Lanes Festival where Synergy will light up the one-day event with renewable energy, powering all of the temporary structures, stalls, food vendors, stages, entertainment and activities.

Synergy will also give away free popcorn for festival-goers who participate in the energy challenge at the Synergy stand.

Synergy chief executive officer Jason Waters said Synergy was pleased to support the exciting community event, for the first time, by providing all of its power requirements with renewable energy.
